Funded by the CTF Services Charity Foundation, Heep Hong Society's Project Guiding Glows is a one-year, territory-wide initiative dedicated to fostering an inclusive society. The project establishes a multilingual online resource hub designed to support the community, with a special focus on empowering multicultural caregivers of children with special needs by enhancing their caregiving capacities and specialized knowledge.

Together, we strive to build a sustainable support ecosystem for caregivers of SEN children by providing lasting resources, equipping stakeholders with essential knowledge, and nurturing vibrant, peer-led community networks.

1. Multilingual Online Special Needs Resource Hub (will be launched in 2027)
   A multilingual online special needs resource hub will be launched in 2027. It serves as a one-stop information hub for families of child with special needs to understand the government rehabilitation and education system and to equip them with knowledge and resources of supporting children development.
   
   The resource hub will be available in Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Chinese & English.
2. "Cultural Humility" Train-the-trainer Workshop
   The "Cultural Humility" Train-the-Trainer Workshop Series is for professionals, university and college students, and volunteers to better work with multicultural families and children with special needs.

   Workshop Themes:	Situating Multicultural Communities and Special Needs in Hong Kong (For professionals, university and college students, and volunteers with limited knowledge about multicultural communities and special needs) Early Identification and Intervention of multicultural Families and their Children with Special Needs (For professionals serving multicultural families with limited knowledge on special needs) Cultural Humility Practice in Support multicultural Families and their Children with Special Needs (For professionals serving families and children with special needs with limited knowledge on supporting multicultural communities)

3. Parent Workshop
   To enhance the understanding of SEN of multicultural families of children with SEN, and to equip them with the relevant knowledge in support of their children's development.
   
   A. Parent Workshop on Sensory Integration
   Sensory integration is our brain's ability to process and integrate information from our senses. It often plays an important role in the learning and development of children with special needs.

   Workshop Target:	Multicultural Caregivers of Children Receiving Pre-school Rehabilitation Service (e.g. EETC/OPRS/IP/SCCC)
   Workshop Objectives:	To understand how sensory integration affects children's learning and social-emotional behaviors To learn how to support children’s sensory integration in relation to their learning
   Workshop Components:	Interactive, experiential activities to learn about sensory integration Delivered in English with interpretation support
   Workshop Duration:	1 Session (1.5 Hours)
   Number of Participants:	10-15 Participants
   Workshop Fee:	Free
   Remark:	Attendees will grant priority access to future family activities, exploring public facilities supporting the development of sensory integration across Hong Kong.

   
   
   B. Parent Workshop on Social Story
   Social Stories are short, personalized narratives developed by Carol Gray in 1990 to help individuals, particularly those with special needs, understand social situations, expectations, and emotions.

   Workshop Target:	Multicultural Caregivers of Children with Suspected or Diagnosed Special Needs Studying in Mainstream Primary School
   Workshop Objectives:	To learn what is social story To learn how social stories can enhance children's understanding of social situations and expectations
   Workshop Components:	Create a unique social story for your child Delivered in English with interpretation support
   Workshop Duration:	2 Session (1.5 Hours)
   Number of Participants:	6-10 Participants
   Workshop Fee:	Free
   Remark:	Development assessment at the charitable price of $500 will be prioritized to participants of children with suspected special needs who complete both sessions on a first-come, first-served basis

• Interested school or organization can consider take part in all or specific project component(s)
• Customization for parent workshops or train-the-trainer workshop series is available upon discussion to better align with the needs of the participants
