Get Through Tough Times With SEN Children

Donate to support SEN children

The outbreak of COVID-19 has caused serious impact on different aspects of life. The low income families with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) may be one of those who suffer the most. Affected by pay cuts or laid-offs, the parents feel the financial burden of paying for their child’s training, worrying that their child may miss the golden period of training. With your support, these children with SEN will be able to continue to receive training during this critical period.

Case of an SEN child:

My son Nam Nam suffers from Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). While waiting for a place in Special Child Care Centre, we have been using our savings to pay for Nam Nam’s intensive training program since he was two years old. We were glad to see Nam Nam makes significant improvement in eye-contact, social communication and emotional regulation. However, Nam Nam’s father, who worked in the catering field, got laid off during COVID-19. We ran into financial difficulties and almost had to terminate Nam Nam’s training. We were very worried as this meant Nam Nam’s abilities would probably regress. Thanks to Heep Hong Society’s Children & Youth Training Fund, Nam Nam can continue to receive services now and does not have to miss his golden period of training.

Heep Hong Society Supportive Learning Project:

Supported by donations and fundraising, our Children & Youth Training Fund provides subsidies for SEN children from low-income families to receive the much needed training services. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we recorded a significant increase in application for subsidy. Many families who were able to pay for the training in the past, found their breadwinner being laid off or suffered pay cuts due to the economic downturn. The golden period of training for SEN children is three to six years old. If they stop receiving training due to temporary financial difficulties, their abilities will regress. We appeal your support to these SEN children by making a donation.
